3 Ways To Keep Your Dreams in Your Reach


I'm sure like many others you might wear many hats, a caregiver, parent, spouse, or probably a few other hats yet to be defined. These roles have responsibilities and it take time to fulfill. Unfortunately, time, if not balanced, can cause you to defer dreams that with proper planning could have been worked toward in little steps over time.


Here are a few tips that may be helpful in making sure your dreams don't fall to the back burner while you are making sure everyone else is ok.



1) Take 10 minutes and write out one dream and/or goal

Don't be modest pick something you've always wanted to do. One way to approach this is through this modern proverbial question: How do you eat an elephant? The simple answer is "one bite at a time." What is one step you could take toward this dream/goal within the next 30/60 days? Write it down and post it where you can see it. Revisit it daily, weekly or monthly, you choose. My grandmother used to say, "out of sight out of mind." I say, "the more you see it, the more its on your mind, the more likely it will will come to pass."


2) Join or assemble an accountability group. Share your dream/goal with an accountability group. I have two friends and we meet via conference call once a month. We set goals and the next month we see what we accomplished. Sometimes, we meet our goals, sometimes not. If we did, we set new goals for the next month. If we didn't reach our goals, we collectively strategize and pull resources to help each other move forward.

3) Celebrate little victories.

So many people wait to celebrate at the end, when the "BIG" thing and the "mega WOW" to happen. I challenge you to celebrate the little things. Celebrate the little steps that get you to the big things. This will keep you motivated and will actually help you set and reach new goals.
